For me the beauty in these images lies in their spontaneity, he captures the personality of the subject very well in my opinion. His stark imagery is well lit, minimal and against a white background. By removing colour from the photographes they because all about light, which makes them very beautiful.

ANNIE LEIBOVITZ is one of the world's best known portrait photographers, I find her images very powerful, she uses very intense shadow and light with her figures which I think works well, and her sober colour schemes (grey clouds, dark water etc.) add to the impact. Some of her compostions remind me of renaissance paintings. I think her editorial work provides a refreshing take on 'fashion photography' for magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair.

Born - 1949, Connecticut. Studied at San Francisco Art Institute, taking night classes in photography. 1970 - Began work for Rolling Stone magazine. Shot 142 Covers in 10 years as chief photographer. 1983 - Joined Vanity Fair. 1998 - Joined Vogue.
